JEDDAH: The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an e-Visa service for cruise travelers. But, Saudi Government Launches E-Visa for Cruise Visitors according to foreign ministry Saudi Arabia.
Through Twitter, the ministry on Sunday said that the e-visa will issue to people arriving in Saudi Arabia via cruises, and that applications will file through its electronic platform.
Therefore, the ministry tweeted on Sunday that e-visas will be issued to people arriving in Saudi Arabia by cruise. And applications can be submitted through its electronic platform.
It states that proof of purchase of a cruise ticket is require when applying for a visa. Applications will be processed prior to the issuance of visas through the Ministry’s embassy digital platform.
Tourism plays an important role in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 economic diversification plan.
As a result, the Saudi authorities plan to invest up to $200 billion and host 100 million visitors by 2030. Vision 2030 aims to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to GDP by 10 percent.
Part of the Kingdom’s strategy includes job creation and additional tourism facilities, including hotels.

Last month, Prince Mugrin University of Medina signed an agreement with Cruise Saudi, a subsidiary of the State Investment Fund, to train national talent in tourism.
As part of the deal, young Saudis will offer professional programs in various tourism specialties. It aims to develop local workforce opportunities in the cruise, tourism and hospitality industries. Cruise Saudi aims to create 50,000 direct and indirect jobs by 2035.
Similarly, the Kingdom’s national airline Saudia last November signed an agreement with MSC Cruises and Cruise Saudi to provide 20,000 seats on its flights to Jeddah from Europe and North America.
Military and civilian personnel are working around the clock to issue entry permits for tourists to the Red Sea Operations Center in Jeddah. The Inter-Agency Center provides assistance to foreign yacht owners and local agents in Arabic and English, helping them enter the waters of Saudi Arabia.
This comes as part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s plan to boost tourism through maritime activities. This was announce by the head of the center Hassan al-Asmari the manager of the center, told Arab News.
